Cyber Tips for Summer Travel

 

With summer in full swing, hopefully you can take a break from your daily life and enjoy some time away with friends and family. Just don’t take a break from being cyber smart.

·       Keep your devices updated and password protected.

·       Use the personal hotspot feature on your phone. Do not use public Wi-Fi.

·       Do not discuss your upcoming travel plans on social media.

·       Wait to post pictures of your trip on social media until you are home.

·       Turn off AirDrop when not in use or set to private.

·       Disable remote connectivity and Bluetooth so a hacker cannot access your device. 

·       Do not click on any links you receive from an unsolicited text or email. A recent scam involved a victim receiving a text saying they had unpaid tolls and included a link to click on to pay these tolls. The link took the victim to a fake website where they entered their financial information, which led to identity theft. Always go to the official website to pay any unpaid tolls.
